My Updated Skincare Routine: Part 2, Night-time

My Updated Skincare Routine: Part 2, Night-time

You’ve seen what goes on in my day time beauty routine. Now, let me give you a glimpse into what goes into my skincare before I head to bed.

I am no skincare expert but I what I am is a self-professed beauty aficionado. Before I even get started on my night-time skincare routine, let me share a couple of things I have learnt about the way the skin works. Let’s get this out of the way: beauty sleep is NOT a myth. If you want glowing skin, you have to put in the hours of sleep for your body to work its magic. Eight hours guys! There’s really no other way around it lest you are amongst the lucky ones who struck the genetic lottery at birth.

When you’re asleep, the skin goes into renewal mode. It is prime time for retinols, a common ingredient in anti-aging products, to do God’s work. It is also at night that the skin loses its moisture as less sebum is secreted. Keeping these things in mind, my night-time routine is built around products that have anti-aging properties and moisturise the skin.

I start my night-time routine with my holy grail – Fresh’s Soy Face Cleanser. I have used the same face cleanser for YEARS and still see absolutely no need to change. It’s gentle on the skin yet great for removing makeup – it’s not everyday you find a cleanser that does both so effectively all while leaving the skin supple and soft.

Then follows the Blithe Vital Treatment Essence. A blend of eight nourishing beans, the essence is an anti-aging treatment that smoothens out rough skin and keeps the wrinkles at bay. I take my skincare very seriously and cannot stress enough the importance of taking care of your skin from as early on as possible. You know what they say, you’d better be safe than sorry. Your future self will thank you later!

Over the essence, I layer the La Prairie White Caviar Illuminating Pearl Infused Serum. This definitely sits on the higher end of my skincare products. Although, I must add it is worth every dollar. Meant to aid in brightening the skin, this serum reduces blemishes and evens out the skin tone for that au natural glow.

Moving onto the heaviest product which goes onto the skin last, I lather a generous amount of the Suqqu Moisture Hydro Lotion over all the goodness that I’ve already applied onto my skin. Remember, the skin tends to dry out at night so a heavy-duty moisturiser is a must. The hydro lotion’s rich formula infused with extra-fine emulsified oil particles does a great job at deeply hydrating the skin. When I wake up in the mornings, my skin feels soft and supple to the touch.

Lastly, you can’t forget the eye area. It’s where age shows through. My go-to eye cream is Cle de Peau’s Enhancing Eye Contour Cream. Say bye bye to eye bags, wrinkles and the stubborn dark circles. Concocted with luxurious ingredients such as Iris extract, this cream is by far the most effective of the lot that I have previously tried.

And wah-lah! I’m all set for bed. I’ve also previously shared my morning beauty routine, which you can read here. Ladies, I’m hoping this helps you get started on your skincare regime if you don’t already have one.
