Ahead, we chatted with Auli’i all about what she’s been cooking while at home, the last thing she watched on Netflix, and more!

Last piece of advice you received from a colleague that changed your life?

The last piece of advice I received from a colleague was on my last set for All Together Now. Fred Armisen said something to the effect of, “You don’t have to be exceptional at everything. Enjoying it is enough.” I have a tendency to give up when I’m not immediately good at something, and this reminds me to take it slow, and learn to enjoy things instead of being so hard on myself.

Last thing you ordered online?

The last thing I ordered online was probably skin care. I’m a sucker for a new mask or serum, and I feel like Iʻm constantly fighting stress acne haha. It’s self care y’all.

Last thing you dressed up as for Halloween?

Oh boy this one is really making me think! I love dressing up and being creative with my closet for Halloween. I remember DIY-ing a “smarty pants” costume not too long ago. I taped Smartie candy all over my jeans, and ended up eating most of them by the time the night was over!

Last thing you texted?

The last person I texted was my mom! She said, “Sleep well and have a great day tomorrow. Ttyl. I love you!” I’m basically guaranteed a good day. She’s so sweet, I love her!

Last thing you watched on Netflix?

The last thing I watched on Netflix was The Haunting of Bly Manor. Its October and I’m getting my spooky on. I love scary movies and plan on watching and rewatching all of my favorites before month’s end!

Last thing you do before going to bed?

The last thing I do before going to bed is drink chamomile tea and scroll on my phone. They’re a little counterproductive to each other, but it’s all about balance anyway. And Instagram is just too addicting sometimes.

Last photo on your camera roll?

This is a good question! The last photo on my camera roll is a screenshot of a floral skirt I love, but want to find second-hand. By the time I go to a thrift store, Iʻll have a whole folder full of screenshotted styles to try to find!

Last gift you received?

The last gift I received was a bouquet of sunflowers and a bag of cheese puffs from my friends! They gave it to me for the release of All Together Now, and it was actually a perfect gift. 10 out of 10.

Last workout?

I genuinely can’t remember. I have stairs in my apartment, so I guess that?

Last book you read?

The last book I read was Sun Chief: The Autobiography of a Hopi Indian. I got it at my favorite bookstore here in Los Angeles, called the Illiad!

Last thing you took home from a set?

The last thing I took home from a set was a green jacket from Netflix. I also took the pants and shoes. And the shirt I wore too. To be fair though, I did ASK before I took it, but I literally walked off set in full costume on the last day lol.

Last album you listened to?

The last album I listened to was What Could Possibly Go Wrong by Dominic Fike. Iʻm in awe of the raw talent this guy has.

Last thing you cooked?

The last thing I made was actually French Toast! I tried the Apple Crumble French Toast Cups recipe made with King’s Hawaiian Original Hawaiian Sweet Round Bread, and YUM. King’s Hawaiian was always a special treat growing up in Hawaii, so I was excited to partner with them to help celebrate their 70th anniversary and their tradition of giving back through a special program with No Kid Hungry that is helping provide up to half a million meals to kids in need. “A (French) Toast to Breakfast” is a twist on traditional Pancake Breakfast Fundraisers and I love that they’re encouraging everyone to get involved. Whipping up a yummy, portable recipe like Apple Crumble French Toast Cups is an easy way to share the Aloha Spirit with friends, family and neighbors and support No Kid Hungry at the same time. You can even do your bake sale outdoors or do contactless delivery style drop offs —either way, it’s such a fun and delicious way to give back — and King’s Hawaiian is even matching donations between November 16 and November 23.

Last great fashion purchase?

My last great fashion purchase was a long puffer jacket from Uniqlo. It folds itself up to fit into a small bag! Genius!
