Soap Opera Actress Elizabeth Hendrickson Welcomes First Child at 40

“The Young and the Restless” actress Elizabeth Hendrickson is a mom for the first time!

Days ago, Hendrickson and husband Rob Meder welcomed a baby girl, who weighed in at 6 lbs., 11 oz. and measured 20 inches long. She told People magazine, “We are thrilled to introduce our little Josephine James Meder to the world — she’s perfect in every way.”

Addressing the COVID-19 crisis, Elizabeth said, “When dreaming about the birth of your first child words like ‘social distancing’ and ‘shelter in place’ never seem to enter into the picture. Yet here we were. Over the past month, we simply focused on the things that we could control and we reminded ourselves how lucky we were and stayed positive.”

On her Instagram, Elizabeth also noted that her husband went home to rest after the birth since “he is not allowed to be with me postpartum.”

Hendrickson also thanked the medical team at UCLA Santa Monica, saying, “We couldn’t be more thankful for all of their hard work during a time like this.”

A day before their daughter’s arrival, Elizabeth revealed that they were inducing labor. Acknowledging the fact that many hospitals are not allowing partners to be in the delivery room due to coronavirus fears, she explained, “We’ve decided to induce labor with everything moving so rapidly. We felt it was safest to get her here safely before Rob wasn’t allowed in the delivery room like they’re doing in San Fran and NY. 20 mins before we walked into the hospital the midwives were notified that after delivery only the mother is allowed with the baby postpartum.”

“My heart goes out to all of the mamas that are faced with being separated from their partners during delivery right now. I really can’t imagine doing this alone,” she added.

Elizabeth announced she was pregnant in October. At the time, she debuted her baby bump, writing on Instagram, “We can’t wait to meet our baby GIRL, March 2020. Our journey to getting pregnant has not been easy and I’m looking forward to talk about it more publicly, hear your stories, share experiences and learn as much I can from all of you. I’m finally going to be a Mother and I can’t wait for what’s to come!!!”

The baby comes nine months after Elizabeth and Rob tied the knot in St. Barts.
