Slip Dresses that Make an Entrance Every Time You Enter a Room

You won’t be called a repeat offender.

After living in (and becoming one with) a rotation of our sweatshirts and joggers for the most part of the year, we could never look at clothes the same way. Bodycon dresses – were they ever worth skipping out on the extra serving of green bean casserole? Glitter dresses – was there ever a morning-after when you didn’t spend an extra hour in the shower scrubbing it all off your skin?

Whoever we were before, we don’t know her anymore. Having evolved into creatures of comfort through and through, our approach to party dressing, too, has shifted in tandem. At the top of our clothing equivalent of Maslow’s hierarchy of needs, you’d find sustainable and timeless pieces. Rather than add on to the morgue of sequin numbers that live on as a memory on the ‘gram after just one wear, a pursuit to find classic evening wear numbers led us to slip dresses. Aka the white shirt of dresses.

They are the evening dresses you could wear time and again and yet still feel like a million bucks in. There are also a million ways you can wear them. Layer them with a turtleneck underneath for an extra touch of chic, take a leaf out of Phoebe Philo’s stylebook with pants underneath, or tuck them in even. And slip dresses themselves can be so much more slinky pieces of satin. From prints to embroidery, we’ve curated slips dresses that make an impression every time you enter a room.
