Okay I had a lot of fun talking about how the style the midi skirt and how to style chunky sweaters so I am back today to talk about styling the mini skirt. This silhouette can be polarizing, but I do love a great mini skirt during the cooler months. Adding tights, wearing knee high boots, and adding a thigh high sock are just some of the ways I make this style work for me. Below I am going to break down a few mini skirts I am loving right now as well as how I would style these in the coming months!
STYLING A MINI SKIRT WITH BOOTS
A mini skirt was made for a great pair of knee high boots! Lately I have been styling my mini skirts with riding boots, western boots, or a sleek minimal boot. When combining boots and a mini skirt I often like to add even more interest in layering by adding a knee high sock! Some of the my favorite combinations to create with a mini skirt and boots are this brushed wool mini skirt in cream with these brown boots and this cable sweater. If you need more layers I would add this pinstripe coat! Another great combo would be this pleated mini skort styled with these boots and paired back to this fairisle sweater or this one.
STYLING A MINI SKIRT THE MINIMAL WAY
While I am usually about making everything extra and over-the-top I do appreciate a minimal look every once in a while. I bought this very straightforward, black everyday mini for under $50 and it has been a great staple in my closet (you can see one way I styled it here). For a more minimal look I would go with a sleek pump, fitted turtleneck, and oversized coat. For a minimal, yet dressy look I am obsessed with this mini skirt styled with this bodysuit, these bejeweled pumps and this cropped coat. A few other mini skirts I am loving that would look stunning styled in a more minimal fashion would be this croc embossed mini, this pleated mini under $40, and this luxe navy mini.
STYLING A MINI AS A SET
You know I can’t live without a set and there is nothing more chic than a lil’ mini set! A few favorites right now are this red skirt and this jacket that would look amazing with these red patent mary janes, this tweed mini skirt that goes with either this jacket or this jacket (you can see how I styled it here) and this green sweater skirt back to this matching short sleeve sweater. When styling a mini skirt set I usually keep the accessories minimal – such as pairing a set with these simple hoops or these studs.
STYLING A MINI SKIRT THE CASUAL WAY
While I typically opt to keep things more dressy around here, I do adore more casual looks. Sneakers and ballet flats are the perfect footwear option to make a mini casual, while still feeling put together. I have been envisioning this plaid mini skirt with these brown ballet flats or these and this sweater polo. Another casual look to love would be this pleated skirt, these sneakers, and this oversized striped sweater.
