Inspired by recent purchases and personal spring must-haves, I thought I’d round-up my top 25 style buys of the season. There’s a little more than 25 if you scroll along the carousels, but the 25 you see here are the crème de la crème of what I’ve found online. I’ve broken it down into five categories that I’ve found myself grabbing more and more as the weather heats up; from the jacket I’ve been wearing the most so far this season, to the trouser style that never fails me, and the maxi dresses that I’ve developed quite the taste for, to THE bag – you know the one…
I know I umm-ed and ahh-ed over the Whistles Clean Bonded Leather Jacket*, but I’m so happy I kept it because it truly has been so easy to wear and become such a throw-on piece for me that I find myself reaching for often as I’m running out the door. Perfect for in-between days, it’s flitting back in and out of stock at the moment, but if you’re looking for a dupe I’d suggest something oversized and either overshirt inspired or blazer-like in shape.
One of my spring outfit go-to’s is a white tank top, black oversized blazer, a chunky sandal and a pair of beige tailored wide leg trousers. It’s just a classic. Clean, chic and as easy to wear out for drinks as it is to wear out for a meeting. I love it. I always think COS* owns the monopoly on tailoring and their Wide-Leg Tailored Trousers* seem like a safe bet. Or if you’re looking to invest a little more I love The Frankie Shop Gelso Pleated Trousers*.
This category is purely inspired by my recent discovery of DISSH* of course. Their dresses have truly converted me into a dress lover and it’s only taken 33 years. I’ve got the most wear from their Donna Sleeved Midi Dress*, a short-sleeve black ribbed maxi dress that I’ve found surprisingly versatile. But I’m also enjoying the Taylor Olive Long Sleeve Midi DRESS*, a long sleeve green number that just makes me feel fab when I wear it.
I am beyond obsessed with this ARKET Suede Curved Bag*. It truly is the definition of a Mary Poppins bag – it even fits a laptop in it. WHO KNEW!? If a leather bag is for winter and a straw bag is for summer, then a suede bag is for spring – it just sits somewhere in the middle, you know? Plus the slouchy, unstructured feel just gives a more casual vibe to whatever you pair it with. It just has that effortless, ‘I threw this together’ feel.
I’m just not sure I can convert back to the ballet flat-life yet – although never say never! Instead a loafer is the perfect transition shoe for me. A bit of ankle, nice and flat and practical and a timeless shape. I really like the look of them with a wide-leg tailored trouser or some oversized denim. A shorter straight leg style of denim also works well with a crew neck jumper – such a simple combo. Personally my top pick would be the ARKET Leather Loafers*. I own a pair in the brown and they come up true to size.
