Jonathan Majors Arrested After Alleged Domestic Dispute

On Saturday, March 25, “Creed III” actor Jonathan Majors was arrested in New York City after an alleged domestic dispute. A spokesperson for the New York Police Department told The Hollywood Reporter that the actor was arrested on charges of strangulation, assault, and harassment. Majors is denying all wrongdoing.

The police responded to a domestic-dispute call at an apartment in the Chelsea neighborhood of Manhattan, where a 33-year-old male, confirmed to be Majors, was allegedly involved in a dispute with an unidentified 30-year-old woman. “The victim informed police she was assaulted. Officers placed the 33-year-old male into custody without incident,” the spokesperson told THR. The woman was taken to the hospital with minor injuries to her head and neck. Majors has since been released from custody.

On Sunday, the actor’s criminal defense lawyer, Priya Chaudhry, issued a statement to POPSUGAR maintaining Majors’s innocence. “Jonathan Majors is completely innocent and is provably the victim of an altercation with a woman he knows. We are quickly gathering and presenting evidence to the District Attorney with the expectation that all charges will be dropped imminently,” she said.

Chaudhry detailed the alleged evidence, which she said includes video footage from the site of the reported incident, testimony from eyewitnesses, and two written statements from the woman recanting the allegations. “All the evidence proves that Mr. Majors is entirely innocent and did not assault her whatsoever,” Chaudhry’s statement reads.

Chaudhry also said she believed the charges would be dropped soon and maintained that arrests must be made in cases of this nature. “This is the only reason Mr. Majors was arrested,” she said.

The “Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania” actor is at a busy moment in his career. He’s set to star as Kang in Marvel’s 2025 film “Avengers: The Kang Dynasty” and is rumored to appear in “Loki” season two. POPSUGAR reached out to Marvel for comment on Majors’s arrest but did not recieve an immediate response.

In the wake of his arrest, the US Army announced it had pulled a “Be All You Can Be” ad campaign featuring the actor for now. “The U.S. Army is aware of the arrest of Jonathan Majors and we are deeply concerned by the allegations surrounding his arrest,” Laura DeFrancisco, public affairs chief for the Army Enterprise Marketing Office, said in a statement to THR. “While Mr. Majors is innocent until proven guilty, prudence dictates that we pull our ads until the investigation into these allegations is complete.”
