Chris Appleton just made his romance with “You” actor Lukas Gage official, with a little encouragement from Drew Barrymore. After sharing vacation photos from a trip to Mexico, and walking the red carpet together, celebrity hairstylist Appleton opens up about his relationship with Gage during a clip from appearance on “The Drew Barrymore Show,” shared March 15.
In the video, Appleton, 39, tells host Barrymore, “I’m very happy, very much in love and I feel very grateful to be able to share my time with someone special.” He continues, “I think meeting someone that you really connect with is really, really special.” Barrymore than showed a photo from Appleton and Gage’s trip on the screen. In the caption of the clip, the talk show wrote, “Here’s to love.”
Earlier this month, Gage, 27, was asked about the nature of his and Appleton’s relationship by the New York Times, but played more coy than Appleton. “If they want to think that, they can,” he said of many assuming their Instagram pictures marked the launch of their relationship. “I’m a pretty open book about most things in my life, but I have a problem with the culture of everyone needing to know everybody’s business and nothing can be sacred. It’s a weird line that I’m still trying to figure out.”
In that same interview, Gage said he’s resisted publicly labeling his sexuality — and even lost an agent because of it. “An agent that dropped me was like, ‘Stop dyeing your hair, stop wearing weird clothes and pick a lane: gay, bi, or straight. It’s too confusing,'” he recounted. “I understand representation and voices that need to be heard, but I don’t want to do anything on anyone’s accord but my own. Let me do it when I’m ready. And it’s acting. I feel like everyone should get the opportunity to play whatever they want.”
Gage has had a busy few years. He recently followed up his turn in season one of “White Lotus” with a part on season four of “You.” He portrays Adam, a fellow American ex-pat in the group of posh Brits that Joe integrates into with deadly consequences.
