Jennifer Lawrence is trying on a new role — lead in a raunchy comedy — and it seems to be a natural fit. In “No Hard Feelings,” Lawrence plays down-on-her-luck Uber driver Maddie who, when faced with losing her house, takes on a job trying to loosen up a socially awkward 19-year-old before he goes to college. In the trailer, which was released on March 9, she tries everything from skinny dipping to Long Island iced teas in order to successfully seduce him, per his parents’ bizarre request — only to find out that he might have a few things to teach her about romance as well.

Thirty-two-year-old Lawrence is in the midst of a career resurgence, starring in “Don’t Look Up” in 2021 and “Causeway” in 2022. She was also supposed to star in “Bad Blood,” a movie about fallen tech mogul Elizabeth Holmes, but backed out of the role after seeing Amanda Seyfried‘s expert portrayal of Holmes in Hulu’s “The Dropout.” Lawrence has plenty on her plate as is, having just welcomed her first child, Cy, in April 2022.

Ahead, check out what we know about “No Hard Feelings.”

“No Hard Feelings” Plot

“No Hard Feelings” follows Uber driver Maddie who, after losing her car and nearly her house, accepts a Craigslist ad posted by helicopter parents who want their son to have some experience with romance before going to college. She tries her best to seduce Percy, but it proves to be more of a challenge than she anticipated — he pepper sprays her on their first date, and things only escalate from there. It seems like she manages to corrupt him a bit by the end, though, as he’s downing glasses of wine at dinner with his parents in the last frames of the trailer.

“No Hard Feelings” Cast

Lawrence stars as Maddie, and Andrew Barth Feldman plays 19-year-old Percy. Matthew Broderick and Laura Benanti play Percy’s parents, and Natalie Morales, Hasan Minhaj, Kyle Mooney, Ebon Moss-Bachrach, and Scott MacArthur round out the cast.

“No Hard Feelings” Release Date

“No Hard Feelings” hits in theaters on June 23.
