TIME FOR A RECHARGE – Patricia Bright

Hey lovely people! It’s been a while since I posted on this blog, and when I pause and step back for a minute, this year feels like a bit of a blur with so much going on. Whilst I’m super happy and grateful for it all, at times I definitely experience a “burn-out”. Being your own “boss” has many advantages and often sounds appealing, however it can also be very hard to switch off from work and unwind (even when it’s late at night and weekends). When this happens I try to take a mini time-out for a few days, with no emails, meetings etc.  I knew from our previous trip that the weather in Turkey is lovely in October, so this was the perfect location with only a 4 hour flight from London to Dalaman airport.

We spent 3 days at the stunning Hillside Beach Club, and the plan was to do as little as possible whilst there and to come back feeling refreshed! Waking up on the first morning I was reminded of the natural beauty and scenery looking out from the room out onto the bay. The sunsets are also absolutely stunning, and so we made sure we got onto the relaxing 2 hour sunset boat cruise on the second evening. This turned out to be the perfect way to enjoy the views, of course accompanied with wine and snacks!

Needless to say we were kept well fed at the variety of restaurants on site, with my personal favourites being the fresh fish, and salads, (tryna stay snatched!) but of course you know I had to indulge in a plate or two of pancakes and waffles at breakfast, it would have been rude not to! Besides that most of my time was spent relaxing on the sun loungers and getting stuck into a good book, whilst Grace was kept well entertained by the hotel pool (supervised of course), kids play areas, and entertainment in the theatre. Having all the activities on site made life a lot easier, and Mike even managed to get me to overcome my fear of deep water when we went out into the bay in a canoe!

Soaking up some much needed sun!

You know I absolutely could not resist taking a few snaps whilst we were there as you may have seen if you follow me on my Instagram, however aside from that I pretty much didn’t look at my phone which I think is good for my sanity at times! On the final day we squeezed in a quick trip to the local town Fethiye, which is definitely worth a wander around for a few hours, and I had to pick up loads of herbs and spices which I can’t wait to get home and start cooking with. I could happily have stayed a few extra days, however I always think it’s better to leave wanting more time then having stayed for too long!

I’m pretty sure this wont be the last time we visit Turkey, and a huge thanks once again to the staff at Hillside Beach Club for their wonderful hospitality! Would highly recommend it to anyone looking for a relaxing break especially around October time! I have a few more trips planned out in the next few months, so keep an eye out and I’ll try to put up a few more posts on here of my travels coming soon! xx
