Actor Leslie Jordan Dead at 67

Actor Leslie Jordan died at age 67 following a car crash in Hollywood on Oct. 24, POPSUGAR has confirmed. He is suspected to have suffered a medical emergency before crashing into the side of a building at Cahuenga Boulevard and Romaine Street.

A statement shared by Jordan’s agent reads: “The world is definitely a much darker place today without the love and light of Leslie Jordan. Not only was he a mega talent and joy to work with, but he provided an emotional sanctuary to the nation at one of its most difficult times. What he lacked in height he made up for in generosity and greatness as a son, brother, artist, comedian, partner and human being. Knowing that he has left the world at the height of both his professional and personal life is the only solace one can have today.”

The beloved comedian, writer, singer, and LGBTQ+ icon played countless memorable roles throughout his career, including Beverly Leslie on “Will & Grace,” Lonnie Garr on “Hearts Afire,” several characters in the American Horror Story franchise, and Sid on “The Cool Kids,” to name a few. His most recent credit is “Call Me Kat,” a sitcom that’s currently airing its third season on Fox. Jordan was also a prolific stage actor, performing in theater productions like “Sordid Lives” and “Lost in the Pershing Point Hotel,” in addition to an author, releasing an autobiographical book titled “How Y’all Doing?: Misadventures and Mischief from a Life Well Lived” last year. In 2006, he won the Emmy for outstanding guest actor in a comedy series for his performance on “Will & Grace.”

In 2020, Jordan rose to viral social media stardom for the humorous and uplifting selfie-style videos he posted on Instagram amid the COVID-19 pandemic. The last update he shared with his millions of followers was on Sunday: a video of him singing a new original song he teased would be “comin’ out real soon.” He ended the caption with his signature sign-off: “Love. Light. Leslie.”

Following Jordan’s death, dozens of friends and fellow actors honored his legacy with touching social media tributes. Former “Will & Grace” costar Sean Hayes shared a photo of their characters together on Twitter and wrote, “My heart is broken. Leslie Jordan was one of the funniest people I ever had the pleasure of working with. Everyone who ever met him, loved him. There will never be anyone like him. A unique talent with an enormous, caring heart.” Eric McCormack, George Takei, Quinta Brunson, Demi Lovato, and more have also shared their own thoughts on his passing.

Jordan is survived by his younger twin sisters, Jana and Janet. His mother, Peggy Ann Jordan, died at 86 in their hometown of Chattanooga, TN, earlier this year.
