Billy Ray Cyrus‘s “achy breaky heart” is once again off the market. Since announcing his split from wife Tish Cyrus in April, many have wondered where the singer’s love life will lead him next, and it appears to be with Australian singer-songwriter Firerose.

The two sparked romance rumors back in August when Firerose shared a loving birthday post dedicated to Billy, 61, on Instagram, writing, “The world is a better place with you in it. Happy Birthday Billy❤️.” And another recent Instagram post by Billy has garnered more romance speculation, leading many to believe that the two are engaged. The post, captioned “Happy Autumn” by Billy, shows the pair embracing one another with Firerose wearing a very noticeable diamond ring on her that finger.

While it may seem like their relationship came out of the blue, Billy and Firerose have actually known each other for over a decade and even collaborated on music together. Keep reading to learn how the music duo met and how their relationship has grown over the years.

How Did Billy Ray Cryus and Firerose Meet?

According to Firerose, the singer met Billy over 10 years ago on the set of none other than “Hannah Montana.” In a 2021 “Live With Kelly and Ryan” interview, she explained how they initially crossed paths, saying, “We actually met 10 years ago on the set of ‘Hannah Montana,’ and Billy Ray’s been a phenomenal supporter of my music ever since. He’s just really believed in me and continued to tell me to pursue my dreams no matter what and not give up.”

While it’s unclear when they started dating, they allegedly grew close after working on music together in the summer of 2021. The duo released their ballad “New Day” in July 2021 and started a relationship sometime during the process of producing the song. “They’ve been dating for a little while. . . . They grew close while working on music together. It is what it is. He and Tish were over before he started dating her,” a source close to Billy told People.

In court documents obtained by People this past April, it was revealed that Tish filed for divorce in Williamson County, TN, on April 6, citing “irreconcilable differences.” The documents also revealed that the couple, who got married in 1993, had not lived together in over two years.
