Oh yes, we’re back to capsule wardrobe-ing…

In case you missed the announcement – I’m back on the capsule wardrobe bandwagon. Over the past three years I have well and truly fallen off, but I’m ready to dust myself off and jump back on because the capsule wardrobe concept is just fab isn’t it? A more mindful approach to accumulating newness, an emphasis on making the most of what you already have and making it work together, and really getting to grips with your style therefore making getting ready in the mornings an absolute breeze. SIGN ME UP.

This time round I’m not aiming for a number of items, more just for a general streamline and getting back into the rhythm of housing my seasonal clothing together so it’s easier to find what I need and I can visually see what I’m working with. Basically I’m going back to the basics that I outlined in my book*, and one of those ideas is to conduct an audit at the end of the season and see if there are any holes that you feel need filling. If there are, then jot them down somewhere where you can refer back to them and check-in again with the list next year. Still feel the same way about what you wrote down? Great, maybe it’s time to think about adding them to your wardrobe. Don’t feel as enamoured? Perfect, it just means that you didn’t waste your money and buy clothing that you wouldn’t feel the same about 12 months later. It’s a handy exercise. So today I thought I’d share what I’m putting on my wishlist to look back on next summer…

LONG LINEN WRAP SKIRT

Now I know exactly what I’m looking for here – I’ll know it when I see it – but I haven’t been able to find it yet, so if you think you know something that will fulfil the criteria then send it my way! I’m looking for a midi/maxi length, preferably linen, wrap skirt – something straight without a flare, and it’s turning out to be quite hard to find. I think this SIR May Side-Split Midi Skirt* is the closest I’ve found, but something with just a simple tie around the waist would be great. I just love the idea of a classic skirt, with a black t-shirt or tank for the summer.

BLACK HALTERNECK DRESS

You know me, I’m not much of a dress person. BUT, this summer I did find myself reaching for the ARKET Shirred Sundress* a fair amount. It’s just something that’s easy to wear, especially on those days when it’s completely boiling and it works for working from home, but I can dress it up if needs be too. So this got me thinking that it might be time to add another everyday summer dress into the fold. I was searching online to find a link to another BASERANGE dress I have and I came across the BASERNAGE Ligo Silk-Jersey Dress* and I was so, so tempted. I’m not in the market for a halter neck necessary, but just a light and airy strap black dress.

BLACK SATIN SKIRT

After my recent wardrobe detox (find that on TikTok), I am now officially skirt-less. I had one lone skirt in my wardrobe and it no longer fit, so it was time to say goodbye. Although I’ve experimenting with more midi styles in the past, I feel like I’m a mini girl at heart, so I think it’s time to invest in a simple satin, black mini skirt. Nothing too flowy or loose, but nothing too fitted or tight either. I’ve done a bit of digging and the Reformation Benson Skirt* feels like exactly what I’m looking for, so I’m popping it on the list for next year.

SUMMER BLOUSE

If there’s one thing I’ve learnt from clearing out my wardrobe, it’s that I’m quite lacking in the ‘tops’ department. I basically have shirts, tanks and t-shirts, but am pretty sparse in the blouse area. You know the ‘nice top and jeans‘ cliche – I need some nice tops. For winter it doesn’t feel as important, but for my summer wardrobe I’m lusting after the Boheme Goods The Tie Top that I saw on Monikh. It just looks like the perfect laid back piece for summer that would work with every single trouser style that I wear in the warmer months. The Reformation Rumi Linen Top* is one that I’ve kept coming back to all summer too.

BROWN LEATHER SHOULDER BAG

Now this one is pretty specific but I’m in love with the Celine Medium Romy Bag in Tan*  isn’t she beautiful? The shape, the slight slouch, the colour? Urgh, perfection. I don’t actually own any tan leather bags and that just feels like a gap that needs filling, especially in a wardrobe that is basically wall-to-wall with neutrals. Now although I do love this bag in particular, I’ve definitely found some pre-loved Celine that fit the bill and some more mid-range bags too. I’m basically looking for something in their hobo style, over the shoulder and with gold detailing and in a tan brown leather. The search continues…
