Congratulations are in order as Zawe Ashton and Tom Hiddleston are expecting their first baby together. The “Fresh Meat” actress, playwright, and director debuted her bump at the premiere of her new film “Mr. Malcolm’s List” on June 29 at the DGA Theatre in New York. Hiddleston, who is most well-known for playing Loki in Marvel’s “Thor,” was not in attendance. Instead, the British star was accompanied by her costars Ṣọpẹ́ Dìrísù, Theo James, Freida Pinto and Sianad Gregory, and director Emma Holly Jones.
The 37-year-old, who will soon be joining her other half in the Marvel universe with her upcoming 2023 film “The Marvels,” wore a gold beaded floor-length gown featuring a dramatic cape by Sabina Bilenko Couture, as she confirmed the news to Vogue in her “getting ready diary.” Her blossoming bump was accentuated by the empire line cut.

On June 27, Ashton spoke to POPSUGAR about “Mr. Malcolm’s List” and how different she is from her character Julia Thistlewaite in matters of love and romance. “She finds it hard to let her guard down. I don’t struggle with that,” the actor said. “I let people in all the time. I don’t have a guard. I need to build a guard.”
And the couple really are the perfect match. Ashton and Hiddleston keep their private life under wraps, but after fans spotted a sparkling ring on Ashton’s finger at the 2022 BAFTAs, Hiddleston confirmed their engagement earlier this summer. Speaking to the LA Times about his relationship earlier this month, the 41-year-old English star simply said he was “very happy.”
This love story is incredibly romantic. The pair met while costarring in a West End play in London — a revival of Harold Pinter’s “Betrayal.” Hiddleston and Ashton actually played a married couple in this show and in the Broadway version. The actors were reportedly together for a long time before they went public with their romance. Hiddleston was seen supporting his now-fiancée’s book launch in London and the loved-up duo were pictured attending the US Open together in New York pre-pandemic.
It wasn’t until September 2021, during a cosy PDA-filled beach holiday in Ibiza, that the romance was confirmed. They were finally photographed together at the 2021 Tony Awards.
