Odell Beckham Jr. and Lauren Wood Welcome Their First Child

Odell Beckham Jr. has had quite the emotional few weeks. Just days after winning his first Super Bowl on Feb. 13, the Los Angeles Rams wide receiver welcomed his first child with his girlfriend, fitness trainer Lauren Wood. Beckham Jr. shared the exciting news on Instagram alongside a series of photos with Wood cradling their baby. “2-17-22, 0605. THE biggest blessing I’ve ever had in my life arrived here on earth! The words, I can’t even put together for the overwhelming emotions that ran thru me . . . a moment I will never forget and cherish forever. Zydn was born n at that moment I knew my life changed for the better.”

Beckham Jr. continued, “Lauren Wood, u changed my life forever and delivered the most beautiful gift of all… EFFORTLESSLY!” He praised his girlfriend for her strength and showing him he can get through anything. “And so the journey continues.” It’s a beautiful message from the NFL star, who had a long journey to his first Super Bowl ring. After signing a one-year deal with the Rams and shining in his season with the team, Beckham Jr. tore his ACL during the first half of the Super Bowl. He did, however, score the first touchdown of the big game prior to his injury.

In the heartfelt Instagram post, Beckham Jr. revealed that he had surgery on Feb. 22 to repair his knee injury, and it was a success. “If there’s one thing I can take from all the work and growth, it is that I AM as resilient as they come. Too much heart to not keep walkin in faith,” he wrote. Beckham Jr. and Wood were first linked together in November 2019, when she shared a sweet post on Instagram for his birthday, and it’s been all love for the couple ever since. Wood was at the Super Bowl cheering on her love from the sidelines, and they even shared a kiss right before he took the field. Funnily enough, Beckham Jr.’s teammate Van Jefferson welcomed a baby boy hours after the Super Bowl, but baby Zydn waited a few days to make their arrival.

As for their baby’s future career as a championship-winning athlete, Wood answered a fan’s question in an Instagram Q&A a few months ago, saying that she will “absolutely” encourage sports for their baby. “Athletic baby in the making from both sides, but no pressure, if our baby wants to be an artist or an educator etc. I fully support that too.” Congratulations to Beckham Jr. and Wood on the birth of their first child!
