Simone Biles and Jonathan Owens are engaged! The couple announced their exciting news on Feb. 15, sharing photos of the engagement, including a close-up of Biles’s massive diamond ring. “THE EASIEST YES,” the 24-year-old Olympian wrote on Instagram. “I can’t wait to spend forever & ever with you, you’re everything I dreamed of and more! let’s get married FIANCÉ.”
Owens also shared their photos on his Instagram, writing in a caption, “Woke up this morning with a fiancée 💍❤️.” He also revealed Biles “really had no clue what was coming,” and thanked his friends for helping him set up the surprise.
Two days after announcing their engagement, the couple shared a video of the proposal on Instagram, giving us a look at how the evening went. “Behind the scenes of the special night✨,” Owens captioned his post. “Im so excited to begin this journey with you baby, you know I’m with you every step of the way.” Biles also shared a sweet caption for the video on her page, writing, “I can’t wait for this new chapter of life with you, I’m honored to be your future wife 🤍 I love you so much Jonathan James Owens!”
The gymnast and 26-year-old Houston Texans player, who celebrated their one-year anniversary in August 2021, first confirmed dating rumors in August 2020 on Instagram. “It’s just us,” Biles captioned a sweet selfie of the two at the time. She admitted she slid into Owens’ DMs after crossing paths in Houston at their respective training camps.
Since then, they’ve been each other’s biggest fans. “It’s so cool that I get to watch you do what you love, and be the best at that !!” Owens wrote on Instagram after watching Biles take home her seventh national championship win last June.
