Britney Spears Responds to Jamie Lynn’s GMA Interview

Britney Spears is speaking out against her younger sister, Jamie Lynn Spears. Following Jamie’s interview with Good Morning America on Jan. 12, the 40-year-old pop icon shared a series of Notes App screenshots on Twitter while battling a fever of 104 degrees on Thursday.

“It was actually kind of nice having a fever so high cause I had to surrender to not caring,” Britney began. “I just couldn’t give a f*ck but my head hurt so bad . . . Anyways, the 2 things that did bother me that my sister said was how my behavior was out of control. She was never around me much 15 years ago at that time.”

“Hope your book goes well, Jamie Lynn !!!!”

Britney then referenced Jamie’s new memoir, Things I Should Have Said, suggesting that Jamie was using her to promote the book. She also brought up Jamie’s tribute performance at the 2017 Radio Disney Music Awards during which she covered some of Britney’s hit songs. “I know it may sound like a silly thing to most people but I wrote a lot of my songs and my sister was the baby. She never had to work for anything. Everything was always given to her !!!” Britney wrote. “But see, I always was the bigger person. They all got to DO IT and PLAY ME and I always sat there and took it. But see, now it’s a joke … the last thing I would ever do is ask for what was just given to her !!! So yes, they did ruin my dreams.”

She continued, “Hope your book goes well, Jamie Lynn !!!! . . . My family loves to pull me down and hurt me always so I am disgusted with them !!!”

During Jamie’s interview, the 30-year-old actor discussed Britney’s conservatorship as well as their complicated relationship. “I was happy . . . when it was put into place, I was a 17-year-old, I was about to have a baby, so I didn’t understand what was happening, nor was I focused on that,” she said of learning about Britney’s conservatorship. “Once I realized that, ‘You know what, she’s in a conservatorship,’ I felt like I just didn’t want be part of [it] until maybe she was out of the conservatorship, so there was no like, me overseeing funds or something like that. And if it was, it was a misunderstanding, but either way, I took no steps to be a part of it.”

However, Jamie insisted that she’s only “ever loved and supported” her sister, adding, “She knows that, so I don’t know why we’re in this position right now.” Read Britney’s full statement in the tweets ahead.
