Is Baby Lilibet in Line For the British Throne?

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle‘s baby girl has officially been added to the line of succession! On June 4, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex welcomed their daughter, Lilibet Diana Mountbatten-Windsor, into the world at Santa Barbara’s Cottage Hospital. The tiny tot is named after her great-grandmother Queen Elizabeth II and Harry’s late mother, Princess Diana.

“On June 4th, we were blessed with the arrival of our daughter, Lili,” the couple said in a statement. “She is more than we could have ever imagined, and we remain grateful for the love and prayers we’ve felt from across the globe. Thank you for your continued kindness and support during this very special time for our family.”

Even though Lili did not receive a royal title when she was born (just like her brother, Archie), she still holds a place in line for the British throne. On July 26, the official royal succession website was updated to show Lilibet as eighth in line to the British throne, following Harry and Archie, who hold the sixth and seventh spots, respectively. Meanwhile, Prince Charles is first in the line of succession, followed by Prince William and his three kids, Prince George, Princess Charlotte, and Prince Louis.
