|Instagram’s algorithm can be cruel. It all starts from clicking into that one video of a thick, chewy, chocolatey, gooey cookie being broken apart, and before your self-control kicks in enough for you to peel yourself away from the ‘gram, your entire explore feed is mostly filled with sugar, spice, and everything nice – i.e. food that’s every fat kid’s dream.
But when you’re on a mission to redeem your diet, the temptations of Instagram’s delights are very real. It’s a distractor from the straight and narrow. While you might not entirely have control over you explore page or the sleepless nights that send you down the rabbit hole, you do have some influence over what you get fed. The way the algorithm works, you get more of what you interact with. Ergo, by interacting with healthier food content, you get more of the vegan, gluten-free, good-for-your-body stuff pushed onto your feed.
Ding, ding, ding! An oat flour mug cake in place of an oreo mug cake? Not a terrible exchange at all if you ask us. The best part – these food Instagrams also lead the way with recipes for guilt-free treats and low-carb meals. We’ve tried some of these ourselves and we’re telling you, you could have your cake and eat it too.
