Rapper Tory Lanez Charged in Megan Thee Stallion Shooting

Tory Lanez has been charged with a felony following the shooting of Megan Thee Stallion earlier this year.

According to the L.A. District Attorney’s Office, Lanez is facing “one felony count each of assault with a semiautomatic firearm — personal use of a firearm — and carrying a loaded, unregistered firearm in a vehicle. The defendant also faces a gun allegation and that he personally inflicted great bodily injury.”

He was previously arrested and charged with having a concealed weapon in connection with the incident.

While the D.A. did not name Megan in the announcement, prosecutors did say Lanez and the victim argued in an SUV in the Hollywood Hills on July 12. After she exited the vehicle, he allegedly shot her in the feet.

Megan, real name Megan Jovon Ruth Pete, previously accused Lanez on Instagram Live in August, saying, “Yes … Tory shot me. It’s not that I was protecting anybody, I just wasn’t ready to speak.”

Now, Lanez is facing up to 22 years and eight months in prison.

According to NBC News, it does not appear Lanez has been arrested or booked. His arraignment is set for Oct. 13.

In August, his team shut down rumors the Canadian rapper had been deported, telling XXL, “Tory has not been deported and is self-quarantining with his family in Florida. This is a perfect example of false information being spread regarding this case, his whereabouts, and his character.”
