Living in a part of the world where the sun doesn’t stop shining, our makeup is in a never-ending spar against the relentless heat. In this match, we declare primers as the undisputed MVPs. Primers are the genius inventions that we bank on to keep our makeup from melting off throughout the day. If we’ve spent all that time painting our face to perfection, you bet we’d want to get the most mileage for our effort.

Finding the correct primer, however, requires a whole lot of trial and error. It’s a full-on experiment with variables that well, vary from person to person, skin to skin, and foundation to foundation. The beauty “best of” lists could be a starting point but even those have their misses. There’s only one way to find out the one that works like a charm for you – trying it out for yourself. Or so we’ve learnt.

The never-ending search for the perfect (if there was ever one) primer led us to our latest discovery – Hera’s Airy Blur Priming Powder. If you’ve been shopping around for primers, you’d know a powder formula is far from the usual. All the times we’ve tried to touch up our concealer after setting our makeup, we’ve been reminded just how bad of an idea layering liquid anything over a powder base.

We stand corrected. Always trust the Korean makeup gods to show us the way. The package, for starters, is the sleekest of any primer we’ve seen and we’ve seen our fair share. With a metallic magnetic brush that attaches to the compact, the decidedly modern design had us at first glance.

First impressions aside, we’ve never met a primer that’s easier to apply than Hera’s Airy Blur Priming Powder. All it took was a few effortless swipes of the brush to blur our pores into a smooth canvas with a dewy finish. It felt like nothing on the skin – none of that sticky, icky feeling on the skin that most primers tend to leave behind.

While we can’t vouch for its 24-hour oil control claim, it did hold our makeup in place for a full 12-hour day with minimal touch-ups in between. Ace in design, performance, and ease of application, Hera’s Airy Blur Priming Powder claims the top spot in our rank of primers.
