Fool her twice… Cardi B and Offset’s divorce reason shouldn’t come as a surprise to fans who know about their relationship history. ICYMI, Cardi filed to divorce Offset after almost three years of marriage on Tuesday, September 15, in Fulton Superior Court in Atlanta, Georgia, where she and her husband live with their 2-year-old daughter Kulture Kiari.
According to People, Cardi filed for divorce after he discovered that Offset cheated on her again. The Migos member cheated on the “WAP” rapper before in December 2017 after a sex tape of him and another woman leaked on the internet. The sex tape leaked just three months after Cardi and Offset married in a secret wedding. Cardi later confirmed that Offset cheated in a tweet in December 2018 after fans criticized her for staying with him.
“No, it’s not right for a [n—] to cheat…But what you want me to do?” Cardi tweeted at the time. “Go fuck me another n—? Start all over again and get cheated on again? This shit happens to everyone and I be too, you too…People handle they relationship different soo.”
In her recent divorce filing, Cardi claims that her and Offset’s marriage is ”irretrievably broken” and that there are “no prospects for a reconciliation.” Cardi is also seeking primary legal and physical custody of Kulture and is ordering her estranged husband to cover the costs of child support. A court hearing is set for November 4.
As fans who have followed Cardi and Offset’s relationship know, this isn’t the first time the “Bodak Yellow” rapper has filed for divorce. Cardi broke the internet’s heart in December 2018 after she announced that she and Offset were divorcing after one year of marriage. In a video on her Instagram at the time, the 26-year-old rapper explained that the couple’s divorce is “nobody’s fault” and they simply “fell out of love.” “And it’s nobody fault. I guess we grew out of love but we are not together anymore,” she said. “I don’t know, it might take time to get a divorce and I’m going to always have a lot of love for him because he is my daughter’s father.”
But is that really what happened? After Cardi’s video, Offset took to her comments with two words: “Y’all won.” The comment, captured by @commentsbycelebs, led fans to believe that Offset was blaming Cardi fanbase for their divorce. “So you mean to tell me that Offset is blaming the Bardi Gang for his cheating ways? Like are you kidding me,” one fan responded, per UrbanLandz. Another commented, “No homie you’re the only one to be blamed for your wife leaving you, her fans didn’t tell you to go and cheat, n—a just salty because you got caught.”
Though Cardi didn’t respond to Offset’s comment at the time, she assured her fans in an Instagram Video that she and Offset didn’t have bad blood “So everybody been bugging me and everything and you know I’ve been trying to work things out with my baby father for a hot minute now,” Cardi said in her video. “And we are really good friends and we are really good business partners — you know, he’s always somebody that I run to, to talk to, and we got a lot of love for each other but things just haven’t been working out between us for a long time.”
As for what Cardi and Offset’s relationship is like post-divorce number 2? We don’t know. But it doesn’t sound good.
