During Sunday night’s VMAs, host Keke Palmer dedicated the awards ceremony to late actor, Chadwick Boseman.
Boseman passed over the weekend from colon cancer, and the nation has been in mourning since.
“Before we get into the music tonight, we need to dedicate the time to talk about the devastating loss of Chadwick Boseman, an actor whose talent is a true inspiration to all the fans he touched and everyone he encountered,” Keke said. “We dedicate tonight’s show to a man whose spirit touched so many. He is a true hero, not just onscreen but in everything he did. His impact lives forever.”
MTV also shared a speech from Boseman to their social media platform.
“Look back at Chadwick Boseman’s win for Best Hero at the 2018 #MTVAwards ❤️,” the post reads. “Today, we remember Chadwick’s life, legacy and his incredible character – something he displayed on so many occasions, including in giving his award to a real life hero.”
