Joe Budden has announced that his Joe Budden Podcast will be leaving Spotify as the streaming platform refused to compensate him and his crew fairly.
“September 23rd, I cannot tell you where this podcast will be,” he says. “But as it stands, I can tell you where it will not be, and that is Spotify.”
Budden claims his show surpassed Spotify’s listeners reach expectations by 900 percent and even to the point that his audience crashed the platform.
“That was the first time it dawned on me that Spotify is pillaging,” he says. “You pillage the audience from the podcast, and you’ve continued to pillage each step of the way without any regard for [the fans,]” he continued.
“Spotify never cared about this podcast individually,” he says. “Spotify only cared about our contribution to the platform.
“[…] I am not going to succumb to any bad deal that is not working favorably toward the people who have created that path.”
One thing’s for certain, wherever the JPB goes, his audience will surely follow.
