When Did Selling Sunset’s Mary and Romain Get Married?

Selling Sunset fans have watched Mary Fitzgerald and Romain Bonnet’s love story unfold ever since the show hit Netflix in March 2019. In the first season, we were introduced to the couple as boyfriend and girlfriend and we followed their journey to getting engaged. In the following season, we witnessed Mary and Romain tie the knot in a gorgeous wedding ceremony at one of Mary’s listings — or at least we thought we did, anyway, because it turns out they were already married.

According to documents obtained by TMZ, Mary and Romain actually wed at a Ventura, CA courthouse on March 9, 2018, 19 months before their televised wedding went down in Los Angeles in October 2019. “Mary and Romain had a civil union a couple of months before the show began filming in June of 2018, but they chose not to tell any of their friends or family, as they were still trying to see if their relationship would work out in the long term,” Mary and Romain’s rep told Entertainment Tonight in a statement on Aug. 23. “In their minds, they weren’t properly married until the wedding that was filmed during the show.”

Season three of Selling Sunset showcased Mary and Romain navigating life as newlyweds, which included having a conversation about possibly expanding their family. While Mary already has a son named Austin from a previous relationship, she and Romain have been exploring different possibilities. “We went to a fertility clinic. I got everything checked, and we filmed actually me doing all of that, it just didn’t make it on the show,” Mary revealed to ET. “I’m good to go, I just haven’t done the process yet, which I keep kicking myself for, because now I’m 40 and they said, ‘Don’t go beyond 40.’ But again, I haven’t had time. So I’m working on that.”

She continued, “And Romain has to go in, and he’s just as busy as I am. So, we know we have to, but right now, if we can’t even go in to freeze eggs, should we really be bringing a kid into this world? I mean, we need to slow down and then decide when is the right time.” Hopefully we’ll continue to follow Mary and Romain’s journey together on season four of Selling Sunset — that is, if it gets renewed. Fingers crossed!
