Swoon! ‘Lucifer’ Star Tom Ellis Calls Spending Quarantine with His Wife a ‘Real Gift’

Tom Ellis is opening up about his life in quarantine in the new issue of emmy magazine.

Ellis, who plays Lucifer Morningstar on Netflix’s “Lucifer,” was forced to take a production break when the pandemic hit and delay a trip to London to see his daughters.

“I was so naked at that point,” he said of filming “Lucifer.” “It’s been a very full-on season for lots of reasons. I love the British expression ‘I was on my knees.’ I was looking forward to seeing my kids and that perfect tonic in my life. Then it stopped.”

Like most of us, the lockdown provided him a break from the rat race, and he thought, “I can do this. I can catch up on my sleep. I can drink without feeling guilty, all that sort of stuff.”

While he missed his children, Ellis made the best of it at home in Hollywood with his wife Meaghan Oppenheimer and their rescue cats Cain and Abel, plus their foster kittens William, Harry and Duchess.

“There’ve been plus points,” he said, revealing he watched the Michael Jordan documentary “The Last Dance” and hit the golf course where he “broke 80 for the first time in my life.”

The best part, he said, is spending more time with Meaghan. “I got remarried a year ago… and my wife and I are so used to being on the go all the time. So, we were forced into a place where we spent time with each other — quality time with each other. That, in the first year of a marriage, is a real gift.”

He added, “If I hadn’t had my wife with me, I really would’ve gone insane. That’s a silver lining I can cling to.”
