If you thought he couldn’t stoop any lower, convicted rapist Harvey Weinstein is now reportedly fighting against a New York law that protects victims of sexual abuse.
According to The Post, Weinstein is claiming New York’s Child Victims Act is unconstitutional. He is aiming to get a court to dismiss accusations that he sexually abused a woman nearly 20 years ago when she was just 16.
Kaja Sokola — a former model and aspiring actress from Poland, filed a lawsuit against him, alleging that he raped her in his apartment when she was just 16. Usually, the claim would have been past the statute of limitations, but the CVA enables her to seek justice years later.
“An indisputable timeline of events, corroborated by other evidence, will refute her claims of abuse,” Weinstein’s lawyer Imran Ansari wrote in Manhattan Supreme Court papers seeking to dismiss Sokola’s case.
“Nearly 18 years after the alleged wrongdoing, Weinstein is being asked to defend a case with salacious verbal allegations made by Sokola against him, where there may be diminished evidence available in his defense due to the passage of time, while already suffering from a vilified public image,” Ansari added.
Weinstein denies raping Sokola.
