A Russian powerlifter named Alexander Sedykh fractured both his knees last week, during his attempt at squatting 880 lbs.
But the weight was too much, and both his knees snapped like twigs – and it was caught on video. Medics rushed to Alexander’s aid and he was rushed to hospital for immediate surgery. After six hours of surgery, doctors are still not sure whether he’ll ever power lift again.
MTO News confirmed that both Alexanders knees were “fractured”, and his quadricep muscle was completely torn off, an had to be reattached.
In an interview with a local newspaper, the Russian lifter said the disastrous lift means he will have to learn to walk again.
‘The main thing is that I must lie motionless in bed for two months,’ he said. ‘Then I’ll be taught how to walk again.
‘It’ll take time to recuperate. I’ve had my quadriceps re-sewn and my knees put back together.’
Many in the industry are speculating that his weightlifting career.
