A 39 year old self-described Republican activist named Abby Johnson is going viral on social media, after claiming that her adopted Black son SHOULD be racially profiled by police, MTO News has learned.
In a June 25 YouTube video titled “My biracial boy,” the mother of a five-year-old adopted son went on a 15-minute rant about the racial unrest in the United States. And she made some extraordinary claims against her own son.
Abby said in the video that her son is now an “adorable little brown boy [but] one day he’s gonna grow up and he’s going to be a tall, probably sort of large, intimidating-looking … brown man.”
Abby has four other sons – al White – which she claims “are probably gonna look like nerdy white guys.”
And then she went off the rails. Abby told viewers that her biracial son will likely be racially profiled by police when he grows up. And then she said, “That doesn’t make me angry.”
Here’s her reasoning:
“I look at our prison population and I see that there is a disproportionately high number of African-American males in our prison population for crimes, particularly for violent crimes; so statistically, when a police officer sees a brown man like my [child’s name] walking down the road, as opposed to my white nerdy kids … these police officers know in their head … that statistically my brown son is more likely to commit a violent offense over my white sons. Okay. So the fact that, in his head, he would be more careful around my brown son than my white son, that doesn’t actually make me angry. That makes that police officer smart, because of statistics,”
Of course her reasoning is flawed, and filled with racism. While black men are incarcerated at a much higher rate than white men, there’s no evidence that they are more criminally inclined.
In fact, most of the statistical evidence shows that they are NOT more criminally inclined. For example, black and white men use drugs at about the same rate, but black men are incarcerated almost six times more often for drug charges.
And when they are incarcerated, they are given longer sentences than white men who commit the same crime.
Since publishing the video, thousands of outraged people have contacted child protective services against the mother. Many on Twitter are hoping to have the young boy removed from Abby’s care, claiming that her “racist” ideology towards her son constitutes abuse.
