The Hip Hop community is in shock this morning after word spread that St. Louis rapper Huey was shot and killed.
According to early reports, the shooting took place right before midnight in front of a home in the 8100 block of Martin Luther King Boulevard near Mable Avenue in Kinloch. Not much is known about the events leading up to the incident.
A spokesperson from the St. Louis County Police Department has confirmed that the shooting has been classified as a homicide.
“The identity of a victim of a homicide will not be provided until that identity is positively confirmed and their next of kin notified,” Sergeant Benjamin Granda said in a statement via Newsweek.
Detectives are expected to give a news briefing in the coming hours.
Huey was best known for his 2006 debut single, “Pop, Lock & Drop It,” and peaked at #6 on the Billboard charts.
