Garrett Rolfe, the former police officer who is facing charges in the fatal shooting of Rayshard Brooks, was moved to the Gwinnett County jail after turning himself into Fulton County Jail.
According to CNN, Rolfe was moved amid concerns for his safety.
Rolfe faces charges of aggravated assault, aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, criminal damage to property in the first degree, violation of oath by public officer and felony murder and is being held without bond.
Officer Devin Brosnan, Rolfe’s co-defendant, also turned himself into jail Thursday morning and was released on a signature bond. Brosnan is facing charges of aggravated assault and violation of oath by public officer in connection with Brooks’ death.
Rolfe shot Brooks last week in a Wendy’s parking lot during a DUI arrest after police found him sleeping in the restaurant’s drive-thru.
