Youtube Says Tekashi 6ix9ine’s ‘TROLLZ’ Did NOT Break Debut Record

After the release of Tekashi 6ix9ine’s video “TROLLZ” featuring Nicki Minaj, both rappers hopped on social media to boast that the video had broken the record for the most debuts for a Hip Hp video in 24 hours — but Youtube says it isn’t true.

“Videos eligible for YouTube’s 24-hour record debuts are those with the highest views from organic sources within the first 24 hours of the video’s public release,” a rep from the streaming site confirmed to XXL.

“This includes direct links to the video, search results, external sites that embed the video and YouTube features like the homepage, watch next and Trending. Video advertising is an effective way to reach specific audiences with a song debut, but paid advertising views on YouTube will no longer be considered when looking at a 24-hour record debut.”

Tekashi has been desperate to land a number one and to break records following his release from jail. His single “GOOBA” actually breaks YouTube ‘a record for biggest 24-hour debut in hip-hop.
