California Mayor Resigns Over Email Denying Cops Ever Killed Black People

A California mayor has tendered his resignation after he sent an email stating he didn’t “believe there’s ever been a good person of color killed by a police officer.”

Mayor James Stewart said the email was sent out in error.

Stewart later apologized for email (particularly the use of the word “good” and claimed that he is dyslexic and used voice text to send the email.

“Unfortunately I did not take the time to proofread what was recorded,” Stewart told River Press Enterprise. “I absolutely did not say that. What I said is, ‘and I don’t believe there has ever been a person of color murdered by police,’ on context to Temecula or Riverside County. I absolutely did not say ‘good,’ I have no idea how that popped up.”
