Six Atlanta police officers have been charged over the arrest of two Atlanta college students during the city’s curfew on Saturday.
Video went viral, showing the two officers — who are both Black, dragging the students from a car before shocking them with Tasers. Both men have also been fired while other officers involved have been placed on desk duty.
The students were Spelman College student Taniyah Pilgrim, 20 and Morehouse College student Messiah Young, 22.
“The conduct in this incident isn’t indicative of the way we treat people in the city of Atlanta and it certainly isn’t indicative of how we treat our children,” District Attorney Paul Howard said about the incident.
Young also weighed in after the news was announced about the officer’s facing charges.
“I feel safer now that these monsters are off the street and no longer able to terrorize people,” Young said.
People are now wondering when the NYPD officers will face charges for their unprovoked attacks on peaceful protestors.
