Whitney Way Thore Opens Up About Her Painful Split with Chase Severino

Reality star Whitney Way Thore recently revealed her split with fiancé Chase Severino, who now has a baby on the way with someone else.

Thore opened up to People about the split, revealing she had just found out he cheated when she went public with the news.

She explained, “It wasn’t something I’d been sitting with for months and months, but once I saw rumors about our relationship — after I finally deleted our photos on Instagram, for example — I knew I just wanted to get it over with and announce it so I could fully start to move on.”

Thore, who stars in “My Big Fat Fabulous Life,” also addressed her decision to reveal that Chase was going to be a dad.

“It’s a difficult thing to navigate — honestly, I would have rather not said it, just to avoid the inevitable backlash and gossip, but at the same time, people in their lives already knew of course and a baby isn’t something that can remain private in the future,” she said. “I definitely didn’t want it to look like I wasn’t aware of the full situation, but at the same time, I truly just don’t want the drama and the gossip.”

It has been tough for Whitney, who said, “I’m hurting and all of that just compounds it. I’m looking forward to a more positive future.”

She continued, “It’s difficult for strangers to have such strong opinions about something so personal, and even though so many people have been incredibly nice and sympathetic, it doesn’t really make the day-to-day much easier.”

Her friend Buddy Bell is also supporting her as she continues to self-isolate during the pandemic.

“Luckily, Buddy has been with me for the last month,” she said. “I still haven’t left the house due to coronavirus, so he grocery shops and cooks and it’s been great not to be physically alone during this time since I’m not able to see my family and other friends.”

In May, she posted on Instagram, “Hey y’all. This is a really weird and uncomfortable thing to have to ‘announce’ on social media, but as I get more questions and hear more rumors, I figured it was time. Chase and I are no longer engaged.”

Thore went on, “After experiencing a lot of ups and downs and still living apart, Chase reconnected with a woman with whom he has had a long history. Chase recently told me this information and the fact that it had resulted in a pregnancy. Chase will be a father in October.”

The 36-year-old insisted, “I’m not interested in anything hateful being directed toward anyone. I would ask for privacy for all involved as we move on and focus on the future.”

Severino followed up with his own Instagram post, writing, “I don’t even know where/how to start. I am very excited to announce I am expecting a child in the fall. Please see Whitney’s post for details. I have nothing but love and respect for Whitney and our time together. Thank you for always supporting us. As we now go our separate ways, I ask for privacy for Whitney, myself, and the mother of my child who wishes to remain anonymous.”

Fans watched Whitney and Chase fall in love on the sixth season of “My Big Fat Fabulous Life,” which aired in early 2019. He popped the question in Paris on October 9, 2019, and they announced the engagement in December.
