Music Industry Promotes #BlackOutTuesday To Provoke Change

The music industry has gone all Black in support of #BlackOutTuesday — a campaign started to draw attention to the current protests against the death of George Floyd, social injustice and police brutality.

The movement was sparked by music executives Jamila Thomas and Brianna Agyemang, who posted a statement explaining the mission of the Black Out.

Spotify will support by adding a silent track to some playlists and podcasts on Blackout Tuesday. “Select participating playlists and podcasts will include an 8-minute, 46-second track of silence as a solemn acknowledgement for the length of time that George Floyd was suffocated,” their statement reads.
