Dwyane Wade’s 13 year old former son came out as transgender earlier in the year. Yesterday was Zaya (formerly Zion’s) birthday and her step-mother Gabrielle Union sent a birthday greeting.
Then, MTO News learned, actor Hill Harper slid into the pre-teen’s comments and wrote “Happy birthday young man.”
Many are calling the comment “disrespectful” because Zaya refers to herself as a “girl” and is asking others to do the same.

Hill Harper, 54, is an ctor and author. He is known for his roles on CSI: NY, Limitless, and The Good Doctor. People magazine named Hill Harper as one of the “Sexiest Men Alive” for 2004, and again for 2014.
Hill graduated with a JD, cum laude, from Harvard Law School. In addition, he also received his Master of Public Administration degree from the John F. Kennedy School of Government at Harvard University.
During his years at Harvard, he was a full-time member of Boston’s Black Folks Theater Company, one of the oldest and most acclaimed black theater troupes in the country. While a student at Harvard, Harper befriended Barack Obama, with whom he played basketball.
