Georgia has been hit with more than 200 new cases of COVID-19 as it reopened business across the state at the order of Governor Brian Kemp.
State health officials recorded 265 new cases and nine deaths in the last 24 hours. As of noon Sunday, there were 23,401 confirmed cases in the state and 912 deaths, AJC wrote on Sunday morning. That number is expected to be even higher.
Five more Georgians have reportedly died due to COVID-19, the disease caused by the novel coronavirus.
After Kemp announced that he would be reopening salons, gyms, barbershops and other small businesses across the state, Trump turned his back on him.
“I (or @VP) never gave Governor Brian Kemp an OK on those few businesses outside of the Guidelines. FAKE NEWS! Spas, beauty salons, tattoo parlors, & barber shops should take a little slower path, but I told the Governor to do what is right for the great people of Georgia (& USA)!” he tweeted.
As numbers continue to rise and the death toll increases, Kemp is left standing on his own.
