Chris Hemsworth Gets Candid About Homeschooling and His New Isolation Hobby

Chris Hemsworth is quarantining in Australia, and dishing with “Extra” Aussie Renee Bargh via Zoom about life in their home country.

“It’s beautiful,” said the star. “I’m just thankful to be in a quiet little coastal town. I feel for people who are in a big city or apartments. So we’re pretty lucky here.”

Chris and his family, wife Elsa Pataky, daughter India, 7, and 6-year-old twin sons Sasha and Tristan, will be there for a bit.

He explained, “Supposed to shoot ‘Thor’ in a few months and that’s been put on hold. And that was going to be in Australia. So I was going to be in Oz for a while, but it’s nice just to be home with the kids.”

For now, Chris is promoting his new Netflix movie “Extraction” with the film’s director Sam Hargave, who was at home in California. Hargave said, “I’m out in Malibu staying at home, doing my thing, trying to stay busy, stay positive.”

Chris stars as a mercenary who has to rescue a crime lord’s kidnapped son. He said, “It was the most physically demanding thing I’ve ever done but also the most rewarding.” Sam added, “It was extremely challenging — technically, logistically, physically — but we pulled it off.”

Renee asked, “What’s more stressful? Shooting this film or homeschooling the kids?”

Chris smiled and said, “Homeschooling… My mom is a teacher and I have a huge appreciation, even more so now. Teaching my kids is like trying to choreograph a fight scene. Someone’s throwing pens and crayons at me, so it’s real fun.”

Hemsworth has also picked up an isolation hobby! “I’ve become a beekeeper… So we’re out there every day collecting honey and it’s got this little window where you can see the bees doing their business.”

“Extraction” premieres Friday on Netflix.
