Asian Couple Jumped On Philadelphia Subway Accused Of Spreading ‘The Corona’

An Asian couple was jumped a few weeks ago, while riding the SEPTA Subway in Philadelphia. And the attack is believed to have been racially motivated MTO News has learned.

An Asian couple in their teens was attacked by a group of teenagers, who accused the Asians of “spreading the corona.”

The phrase, “the corona” is a slang way of saying the COVID-19 coronavirus.

In the video, the Asian man and woman and punched, knocked down and then stomped by the angry mob.

Luckily, they were not seriously injured.

MTO News reached out to the Philadelphia police, and received this response.

We aware of the disturbing video, which depicts the assault of a young man and woman, by what appear to be a group of juveniles.

At this point, it does not appear that the incident was reported to police. However, violent acts such as this are inexcusable and should not be tolerated. We encourage the victims or any witness to contact police.

We also encourage the parents of those involved to take appropriate and responsible measures.
