A HOME TOUR // HAVENLY

Colorful, quirky, and comfortable is how I envisioned my home and I’m so thrilled that the final result is exactly in line with my intentions! I partnered with Havenly to help decorate the main heart of the house – the living and dining areas. This house was originally built in 1925, and after a significant renovation, my hope was for the decor to match the mood of the house, which is more modern, yet warm and lived in.

While I had a clear sense of what I loved and ideas of pieces I wanted to incorporate, Havenly was instrumental in brining the rooms together and tracking down options for each of the furniture and decor pieces that were needed. No matter what type of support you may be looking for (large scale or small), they are experts in creating beautiful and functional living spaces. They are the perfect resource for anyone getting involved in a home design project, from those who have no idea what they want and need more guidance, to those who already have a framework in mind but may need that expert touch to bring the project home (no pun intended!).

The first step in the process was taking an online quiz to help inform the Havenly team on all aspects of the project: inspirational images of what I was looking for, my level expertise concerning interior design, a timeline for completion, and thoughts on if the space is a potential blank canvas (you can take the quiz here). From there, Havenly matches you with an expert interior designer that best fits you and your needs. At this stage you align on an upfront budget as well as work through any other concerns or parameters that the team should take into consideration prior to starting to create your beautiful space. The next step involves uploaded existing pictures of the space and sending room dimensions to start the process. From there, you begin working with your designer on the flow of the room and how you envision it being laid out. I was lucky enough to work with Shelby, an amazing interior designer from Brooklyn, who eagerly began source pieces and provided so many incredible options for me to consider!

Keep in mind, all of this communication is done online through straightforward quizzes and a really easy-to-use chat format. Havenly encourages that you give real time feedback to your designer so you always remain in sync throughout the process. I couldn’t be more impressed with how seamless the process was and how pleased I am with how the space came together. I think it perfectly reflects my personal style while keeping in line with the architectural style of the house, and I can’t wait to enjoy it for years and years to come. Keep scrolling to see the initial plan and a home tour of how it all came together…

The Plan // In the above renderings you can see the detailed plans in mock-up form that Shelby and I aligned on. I immediately felt that the design fit my day-to-day needs and had a perfect flow from one room to the next. More below on how the individual spaces came together IRL!

The Living Space //

When thinking about the living area, it was important to me for the room to be light, clean, and colorful, but not overwhelming or cluttered. These side chairs paired with these pillows are my favorite pieces in the room and marry back perfectly to this stunning six-piece Soicher Marin set.

The Transition Space // The house features an incredibly wide-open space directly off of the kitchen in between the dining and living areas. Our decision to create a comfortable seating area and conversation space worked out so well. It is now one of my favorite spots in the house and the perfect place to cozy up with a book and a cocktail at the end of the day! These Rove chairs matched back to the painted feature wall in the living area and are as comfortable as they are beautiful. The long white gallery wall lends itself well to a low credenza and lots of artwork. The large scale painting in the center is by Pooja Pittie, and incredibly talented artist from Chicago with an equally amazing story. I have long loved her artwork and was ecstatic to finally invest in a piece. Surrounding that are several prints curated from Soicher Marin, a third-generation family owned custom framing shop with an unbelievable exclusive archive of prints.

The Dining Area //

The dining area is quite long in length and it was a top priority to find a table that wouldn’t feel dwarfed in the space. This white rounded table is actually made entirely of concrete and was our first choice! I loved the idea of adding just a touch of color in this area with the addition of the green dining chairs. We felt that they worked so nicely with all the palm trees that over hang the pool area outside.
