Babyface decided to throw a little shade R. Kelly’s way during a live show this week.
In a video clip shared by The Shaderoom, Babyface can be seen telling an anecdote about the time he had a crush on his school teacher.
“Fifth grade…that was the one,” he said, adding that the year “could’ve changed [his] life.”
“I mean, I don’t know if I’d be standing here today if that had even happened. It was my fifth grade teacher….And you know, I had a thing for her, but to be honest, I kind of think she had a thing for me. She kept giving me extra credit and stuff. I ain’t even do nothing for it,” he continued.
He ponders the type of songwriter he would have been if he had encountered a different experience with his teacher.
“I don’t know. I might write songs like R. Kelly or something. I’m just saying,” he quipped.
The audience didn’t seem to love the joke, but Babyface had a good laugh about it.
