Just a few years ago, Meek Mill was one of the biggest hip hop artists in the world. But now his career appears to be hitting a rough patch.
MTO News has learned that Meek Mill cancelled a concert yesterday at the University Of Massachusetts Mullen Center – because he was embarrassed at how few tickets were sold.
The Mullins Center holds a little under 10,000 people. But less than 2,000 people bought tickets to see Meek. And the tickets were only between $10 and $15.
Here’s how it’s being reported in the local press:
More than 1,500 students attended the concert, where opening act, Lil TJay performed. Headline artist Meek Mill arrived at the Mullins Center, but decided not to perform. An announcement was made to students at 1:30 p.m. and the crowd left in an orderly manner.
Hephner LaBanc noted, “Although the concert did not go as planned, students were very cooperative. We are equally disappointed in Meek Mill’s decision not to perform. Refunds will be made available to ticketholders in the near future.”The concert was part of the University’s anti-violence efforts during non-school sanctioned, off-campus parties celebrating the last weekend before Spring Break
