Megan Thee Stallion Sues Her Record Label!!

Megan Thee Stallion is not wasting any time in getting her label, 1501 Entertainment together after they blocked her from putting out new music — she is suing them!

According to TMZ, Meg has filed a lawsuit against the label seeking the termination of her contract. Megan has also requested and been granted a temporary restraining order to allow her to release new music while both sides hash out her contract.

Over the weekend, Megan informed her fans via Instagram Live that the independent label had stopped her from dropping new music after she tried to renegotiate her contract with them. The temporary order is only valid until on March 16 at 11:59 p.m, so it’s expected that she will drop music before then.

Meg is suing for a minimum of $1 million in damages and is asking for her contract to be declared null or terminated. 

According to Meg, 1501 gets 60% of her recording income, while she gets 40% is reportedly allocated to Megan, but Meg has to also pay featured artists, mixers, remixers, and engineers out of her cut. So far, Meg says she’s been paid just $15,000 from the label.

Her attorney Richard Busch said the following to TMZ about the legal battle:

“We are very happy the Court granted our TRO and thrilled that the world should be able to now hear Megan’s new music on March 6. We will now proceed with the other claims set forth in the [lawsuit].”
