What do you do, when you’re looking to leave your job. Do you give 2 weeks notice?
Well according to a top Human Resources professional, you shouldn’t!
The HR executive, who goes by the handle Blue Ivy’s Life Coach, went on Twitter yesterday – to impart his knowledge to his followers.
He wrote, “DO NOT GIVE YOUR JOB A TWO WEEKS’ NOTICE! THEY DON’T GIVE YOU A TWO WEEKS’ NOTICE WHEN THEY FIRE YOU!”
He claims that if you do give notice – you can be fired on the spot.
The HR pro told followers, “Most jobs [would] embarrass you by walking you out.”
And he’s right. The vast majority of states in the U.S. have at-will employment, which means that either the employer or the employee can sever the relationship with no notice and for no stated cause.
This means that your boss can fire you immediately after you give your two weeks’ notice, even if the employment handbook says that this is the standard for the company.
