Rapper Obie Trice has been charged with a misdemeanor in connection with the shooting of his girlfriend’s teenage son in Commerce Township.
Trice has been charged with possession of an unregistered firearm in connection to the incident.
On Dec. 4, Trice had reportedly been drinking all day before be got into a physical altercation with his girlfriend. He eventually pulled a gun on her and her son, and as the son tried to wrestle with Obie, the gun went off and struck the teen in his hip.
The teen suffered a broken pelvis and gunshot wound to his groin during the incident.
The teen’s request for the PPO states that he is “terribly afraid” of Trice, who he says is dangerous when intoxicated.
According to the Oakland Press, the teen’s mother also applied for a protective order, but her request was denied by a judge who felt that she provided “insufficient evidence” to secure the order, despite the fact that he pulled a gun on her during a physical altercation.
