Talk-show Queen Wendy Williams apologized to the LGBTQ community yesterday, after she was criticized for comments that many saw as “anti-gay” during a recent episode of her daytime program.
On Thursday’s “Wendy Williams Show,” the beautiful host tried to tell a joke – where the punchline was her scolding gay men for “wearing our skirts and our heels.” Many Twitter users were offended by Wendy’s joke, and immediately slammed her for the remarks.
Wendy heard their comments, and now has spoken out – apologizing to all those the LBGTQ community
Wendy shared a video shared Friday on social media, saying, “I did not mean to offend my LGBTQ+ community on yesterday’s show. … one thing that I can tell you right now is that I never do the show in a place of malice. … I didn’t mean to hurt anybody’s feelings. I’m just having a conversation.”
“I’m 55 years old, and maybe I sounded like your auntie, your mother, your big sister or somebody out of touch,” Williams reflected in her apology video. “I’m not out of touch, except for, perhaps, yesterday, by saying what I said. So, I deeply apologize, and I deeply appreciate the support that I get from the community.”
“I will do better,” she promised her followers. “I appreciate you supporting me. Thank you.”
