Shayanna Jenkins, the former fiancé of late NFL star Aaron Hernandez, has addressed his rumored bisexuality for the first time since his passing.
Earlier this month, Netflix released their docuseries Killer Inside: The Mind of Aaron Hernandez, where it was alleged that he had a sexual relationship with at least one man.
“If he did feel that way, or if he felt the urge, I wish that I was told,” Shayanna said during a new interview on Good Morning America, “I wish he would have told me because I would not have loved him any differently. I would have understood.”
She continued, “[Bisexuality is] not shameful, and I don’t think anybody should feel shameful on who they are inside, regardless of who they love,” Shayanna continued. “I think it’s a beautiful thing. I just wish I was able to tell him that.”
In the docuseries, Shay is heard scolding Hernandez during a prison phonecall after he repeatedly refers to transgender inmates as “things.”
Shay stood by her husband until the very end. Her loyalty to his was praised in the doc.
