Oprah Winfrey’s OWN network is canceling the show “Ambitions,” which was produced by Will Packer. The series starred Robin Givens as Stephanie Lancaster, a hard-nosed lawyer who stops at nothing to get what she wants.
Created by executive producer/writer Jamey Giddens (The Rich and The Ruthless), an original idea from Packer, Ambitions was a multigenerational family saga centered around one woman who having recently relocated and intent on revitalizing her marriage, finds herself going head to head with some of the most powerful and deceitful players in the city.
Robin Givens broke the news that Ambitions was being canceled. She posted on Instagram, “Found out last week ‘Ambitions’ wouldn’t be returning for a second season.”
In a statement released to Deadline, Tina Perry, president, OWN, said, “We’re thankful to Will Packer, Jamey Giddens and the entire cast and crew of Ambitions for their creativity and hard work on the show. Every week they delivered great drama, intrigue and a lot of fun storytelling,” She added, “We look forward to continuing working with Will Packer and his talented team of collaborators in the future.”
Ambitions were one of the highest-rated new shows on Own. And news of its cancellation has many industry vets wondering – whether Oprah is looking to change directions with her network.
