Real Housewives of Potomac star Candiace Dillard, took to Twitter to slam Vanderpump Rules star Max Boyens after old tweets resurfaced of him gratuitously using the n-word.
“I have much to say about this but for now, I’ll say this: white people have ZERO claim over the n word. None. Not in jest. Not colloquially. Not contentiously. Just not. Just don’t do it. Don’t @ me. More on this later. #AnACTUALexampleofracismiscomingtothesurface,” she tweeted.
Screenshots of the tweets from Boyens’ personal account shared both on Instagram and Twitter, causing a huge backlash. The tweets included repeated racial slurs and some quoted song lyrics.
“It upsets me that the word n*gga is not allowed to be said unless you are black because quite honestly it’s my favorite word,” one tweet read.
Another tweet from 2012 also reads, “Theres this girl I see everyday@school, she looks just like the girl from the movie precious& I’m not just saying this Cuz she’s big and black.”
Another tweet said, “When is Justin Bieber going to realize that saying n*ggas and cussing and having big booty b*tches in his songs is the cool thing to do #queer.”
And he wasn’t just targeting Black people, he also posted a racist tweet about Asians: “Something about Asians that just makes me want to punch them in the suck hole,” he tweeted.
Since the uproar, Boyens has issued an apology for his racist behavior:
“I want to sincerely apologize for what I tweeted in 2012 — it was wrong on every level,” Boyens said in a statement. “It is not a representation of who I am. I am shocked I ever tweeted that — and I am disgusted and embarrassed — I am truly sorry.”
